This past Saturday--a beautiful, late-summer day--Councilman Bobby Henon and Philly Play hosted Tacony's annual Fall Fest along the 6800-6900 blocks of Torresdale Avenue. Familes and friends poured into the streets for games, prizes, food, and live entertainment. Many vendors lined the street to greet them, giving out pamphlets, goodies, and tasty treats to the residents of Tacony.

Nazareth Hospital offered blood pressure screenings, while Rite Aid gave flu shots to the neighborhood's elderly residents at no cost. Philadelphia Recycling Rewards handed out recycling bins to help keep the neighborhood clean and promote environmentally friendly practices. But the tables weren't all just useful--there was fun to be had too!

Several local stores sold goods at small pop-up shops and animal rescue shelters, which were showing off some furry friends that were up for adoption, proved to be one of the biggest attractions of the day. Additionally, Dead Leaves performed covers of some old-time favorites, with a lot of Beatles' hits in the mix. A rock climbing wall towered above the shop roof, and bouncy houses and game stations spread throughout the festival, providing fun activities for all ages. Philly Fun made sure that every child had a smile on her/his face and the parents had a great time too.

Thank you Councilman Henon and Philly Play for putting together such a great event!
