With nearly 30,000 residents, Tacony is primarily a residential neighborhood with diverse housing types including historic Victorian homes, more modest brick rowhouses, and some modern post-war rowhouses. Tacony is well served by transportation including Interstate 95, the SEPTA Trenton Line, and connections to the Tacony-Palmyra bridge which connects the City of Philadelphia to Burlington, County New Jersey.
