This year, the Tacony Community Development Corporation is partnering with the Free Library of Philadelphia Tacony Branch and the Tacony LAB Community Arts Center to put on a series of family-friendly events throughout the entire month of October. Participants who stop at the Tacony Library between now and October 28th can ask the library staff for a Fall for Tacony Punch Card. Fill up your card by attending at least six events, and win a prize at the Tacony Halloween Carnival on October 28th! Other events include education programs at the Library, art classes at the LAB, and the annual Tacony Halloween Costume Contest. Check out FallForTacony.com for a full list of events and for more information on signing your kids up for the Costume Contest!
Things are kicking off on October 5th, with a Kid's Paint and Sip hosted by the Tacony Library. Spots at this event have already filled up, but don't fret! The library will be hosting programs for kids and adults all month long. Grownups should contact the library at 215-685-8755 or stop in to sign up for a Trivia game to be hosted on October 12th with prizes available for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Then, teens 12 and up can sign up for a special Halloween themed baking program to be hosted by Dee Santiago of Dee's Tasty Treats on October 16th and 23rd. The Library is also hosting some exciting guests, such as the Mütter Museum and local funeral director Joe Sannutti! Other activities at the library include pumpkin painting, elephant toothpaste, and more. As usual, the Tacony LAB has some great programs coming up as well! Get a punch on your Punch Card by screen printing your own tote bags on October 16 -just in time for trick-or-treating. Or, stop in for some family pumpkin carving on October 26th.
All of these Punch Card Events, including Third Thursday on October 19th, are leading up to a really big day on October 28th. The Annual Tacony Halloween Costume Contest is on, but this year you have to sign up in advance. Contact the Tacony Library to pre-register for an awesome day at the Library for grades K-7. The event will feature the Costume Contest, and a craft activity with Ms. Arlene! Spots are limited, so sign up now at the Tacony Library or by calling 215-685-8755. After activities are finished and trophies are awarded, we'll be parading down Torresdale Avenue to an epic Halloween Carnival hosted at the Jack Costello Boxing Club! Anyone can join us for the parade, then come by for carnival games, activities, trick-or-treating, and a food truck. Don't forget to collect your prize for filling up your punch card! While the carnival is taking place, the Tacony LAB will be hosting a mask and lantern making activity for all ages, and the Tacony Library will be hosting a Teen Party with pizza, music, and more for ages 12-18. Contact the Library to get on the VIP list today!
