This Sunday, the Multicultural Arts Exchange will be kicking off the start of the fifth Season of Arts and Culture right here in Tacony! The first event will be held on May 29th and will feature Daniel Cainer, a multi-award-winning musical storyteller from London. He will be hosted by the David Gvinianidze Arts and Music Center, located at 6820 Jackson Street in Tacony.
The Multicultural Arts Exchange, or MAE Philadelphia, is an organization dedicated to bringing arts and culture from around the world to Northeast Philadelphia. MAE presents, produces, and promotes traditional and contemporary performing and visual arts. The goal of MAE is to host world class performers in the underused venues of Northeast Philadelphia’s neighborhoods. This is the fifth Season of Art and Culture hosted by the MAE, starting with Daniel Cainer’s “More Jewish Stories.”
Cainer uses music to tell stories about life and family within the context of his Jewish heritage. His songs have been described as “heartbreakingly poignant [and] laugh out loud funny,” bringing the audience into his world. He will be performing at the David Gvinianidze Arts and Music Center, a performance space with an auditorium and a recording studio that opened in Tacony this January!
David Gvinianidze is a former opera singer who performed Worldwide before settling in Tacony. His Arts and Music Center hosts performers from around the world, including Daniel Cainer on May 29th and Sanya Kroitor, a virtuoso violinist from Israel, on May 30th.
