Several other large parks are also very close by. Wissinoming Park and the surrounding cemeteries are just a few blocks west of Tacony and combine to provide a substantial amount of green space in close proximity to several neighborhoods.
Pennypack Creek Park and trail, which extends into Montgomery County and terminates at the magnificent Pennypack on the Delaware park, is just over one mile east of the neighborhood. Its trail can be accessed through several area trailheads, and the park is enjoyed by walkers, bikers, and horseback riders alike. It features remnants of historic mill structures along some parts of the creek, as well as a concert pavilion, playgrounds, and picnic areas. Pennypack on the Delaware is home to ball fields, picnic pavilions, and a completed stretch of the East Coast Greenway (ECG) trail, which runs along the Delaware River.
Tacony’s Lardners Point Park, at the foot of the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge, is also home to a completed stretch of the ECG. Additional sections of the ECG trail system are funded and/or planned to run along the Delaware River from New Jersey down to Spring Garden Avenue, which will provide yet another terrific connection between Tacony and the surrounding neighborhoods.
