On July 26th, the Tacony CDC and Mural Arts celebrated the installation of new light pole banners along Torresdale Avenue with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Tacony LAB Resident Artist Mat Tomezsko worked with community members to brighten the commercial corridor with designs inspired by Tacony's history, such as the Tacony Palmyra Bridge and the grates on the historic Free Library branch building. Tomezsko held workshops with participants of all ages, who experimented with stencils and Tacony's bright color palette to create 40 distinct banners. These colorful banners celebrate the distinct history and character of the Tacony neighborhood.
