This month, the Tacony LAB Community Art Center First Friday event is all about music! To give everyone room to enjoy the holiday, it will be pushed back to the second Friday of the month. Starting at 6PM at 6918 Torresdale Avenue on July 12th, this special collaboration with Settlement Music School and the LAB will feature a Philadelphia-based musician alongside a Kid's Art Exhibit inspired by music and a sticker making activity!
The Settlement Music School offers music and dance classes to all ages, instruments, skill levels, and ambitions in the Philadelphia area. Founded in 1908, the school provides more than 10,000 weekly classes and offers financial aid to more than 60% of their students. Currently, the Settlement Music School offers classes at 5 locations in and around Philadelphia as well as online.
The July 12th event will feature a musical performance from Corinne Kite-Dean, a member of the Settlement Music School's guitar faculty. Corinne has performed and recorded with some of the best young jazz and improvisational musicians in the Philadelphia area. Her style of composition bridges the gaps between improvisational modern fusion, intricately woven “wall of sound” style harmony and an experimental tendency toward the mixing of genres in a way that speaks to the post-genre state of music.
Join us at the Tacony LAB July 12th from 6-9PM for a night of music and art! Refreshments will be provided.
