A scavenger hunt is coming to Tacony! On November 30th, the Storydale Avenue Scavenger Hunt will be available online for all to participate in! Follow the interactive, self guided tour with just your cell phone: find any Storydale Avenue mural on Torresdale Avenue and scan the QR code beside it with your phone camera.
At each location, discover the stories behind the paintings. Follow the paths to explore Tacony’s past, history, and present! Participating locations include: Tacony Library, Evergreen Supermarket, Jack Costello Boxing Club, Bull’s Eye Darts, Marie Huff Hairdressing, Thunder Mug Café (coming soon!), and Convenient Grocery. Storydale Avenue is a public arts project sponsored by the Tacony Community Development Corporation, and driven by the artist Mat Tomezsko with funding provided by Feet First Philly and PA DCED. In a series of Community Paint Sessions, our neighbors came together to paint objects reflecting their favorite places, people, and things. Throughout these sessions, we shared stories about Tacony and the objects tying past, current, and future community members to each other. The images created at these events were compiled by Mat Tomezsko into a series of public art installations placed on and inside of businesses along our beloved Torresdale Avenue.
