Check Out Tacony

Tacony is rich in amenities and growing! It has ample parks and open space, a growing commercial corridor, and rich community institutions. Tacony has a great many buildings on the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places. Among many the highlights is our historic Carnegie library, which has undergone an extensive renovation and expansion to make our great neighborhood library an even more valuable resource for area residents. Our local businesses are growing stronger and in number every year, providing residents with great restaurants, gourmet delicatessens, and delicious “Tacony Style” hoagies.

Whether you have lived in Tacony all your life or are just here for an afternoon meeting, there are lots of great things to do around the neighborhood. Here are a few of our favorites:

  2. Explore the 6900 through 7200 blocks of Tulip and Keystone Streets, which form the heart of the Tacony-Disston Community Development Historic District.
  3. Go fishing or take a nature-filled stroll at Lardner’s Point Park, Philadelphia’s only “living shoreline.”
  4. Work on collaborative art projects at the Tacony Library and the Tacony LAB Community Art Center.
