We’ve got a new Corridor Manager in the neighborhood–Amarynth Ruch! You’ve seen her walking around the neighborhood helping businesses and residents in all kinds of ways. Amarynth has honed her skills in community development work as our Project Coordinator. Now in her new role as Corridor Manager, she is responsible for working with businesses and reviving the corridor.
“Since coming to Tacony in 2021, I’ve felt so welcomed by this community and extremely lucky to work here. I am so excited to continue my journey with the Tacony Community Development Corporation, and look forward to bringing more positive changes to Torresdale Avenue and the surrounding neighborhood,” says Amarynth.
“It is an honor to have Amarynth represent our commercial corridor,” says Georgeanne Labovitz Huff, Vice-President of the CDC Board of Trustees.
Amarynth started her journey in Tacony as an intern at the Tacony Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia while studying at Temple University for a degree in Communications and Social Influence. Soon after graduating, her skills in research, communications, and her can-do-will-do attitude found her working with other organizations in the neighborhood like the CDC, Tacony Civic Association, and the Historical Society of Tacony.
Louis Iatarola Jr., president of the Historical Society and Pastor Evelyn Barnes of the Tacony Baptist Church, and CDC Board Member are immensely grateful for her volunteer work helping archive and digitize historical documents. She soon found a knack for writing blog posts about Tacony’s beautiful historic buildings and educating residents about the neighborhood.
Ashley de Vries, CDC Board President, has seen Amarynth’s rise first hand as they worked together last year to complete events like Third Thursdays, storefront improvement projects, and security cameras.
Ashley says, “Amarynth is multi-talented, hard-working and cares deeply about the community and its history. You can throw any problem at her and she will find a way to solve it!”
“There is no one better qualified to be our Corridor Manager,” says Xhulio Binjaku, Executive Director. “She has taught me, and so many of the neighbors, how to make positive change happen in the neighborhood!”
Next time you see Amarynth walking about, say hello and congratulate her on the new role!
